Sometimes it’s the simplest and uncomplicated dishes that get the most praise. This is one of our favourites to make for snack platters or starters at a party and it’s oh so easy!

Preheat your oven to 200º C.

Take the roll of puff pastry and unroll it! Lay it flat on the counter top & roll out a little – you may want to sprinkle a bit of plain flour on the counter top prior to laying the puff pastry down to avoid it sticking. Cut it in half length ways, then generously spread the Chilli jam across the whole area of the puff pastry. Place your beef sausages along each of the lengths of the pastry. Bring the sides of the pastry together, completely covering the sausages, and then pinch the end to seal it.

Cut into bite-sizes – we suggest that you begin cutting where the sausages meet and in half again. Baste the pastry with beaten egg before placing on a greased oven-proof pan. Bake at at 200ºC for 30-40 minutes or until the pastry turns golden brown.

Wait to cool and then serve. Instead of beef sausages you could you boerewors, Saffer deliciousness.
